Establishing a New Order for Design in an Era of Uncertainty
As uncertainty becomes the norm, the meaning of design is shifting—from stylistic expression to the reconstruction of perceived order.
In a reality intertwined with accelerated technology, information overload, and emotional fluctuations, CMF (Color, Material, and Finish) is no longer merely the surface language of a product, but is gradually evolving into a systematic construction of stability, credibility, and long-term value. How color soothes emotions, how materials build trust, and how craftsmanship withstands time—these questions are returning to the core of design.
The "CMF Trends LAB" is a long-term research project based on this assessment. Starting from the real evolution of color, materials, and craftsmanship, it observes how the times leave their mark on the surface of "objects," and thereby infers possible forms of future life.
Established in 1998, China International Furniture Fair (known as "CIFF") has been successfully held for 55 sessions. Since September 2015, it takes place twice yearly in both Guangzhou in March and Shanghai in September, two of the most vibrant commercial cities in China. In May 2024, CIFF (Tianjin) debuted in Tianjin. Over the years, CIFF has built itself as the world's largest home furnishing fair with the entire industry chain, playing an important role in the global furnishing industry.
Positioned by "Design Trend, Global Trade and Full Supply Chain", CIFF Guangzhou is held annually in 18-21&28-31 March in Pazhou, Guangzhou. With an exhibition area of 850,000 square meters, CIFF Guangzhou hosts over 4,900 brands from China and abroad, comprising home furniture, home decor & home textiles, outdoor & leisure, office furniture, commercial furniture, hotel furniture, and furniture machinery & raw materials. The event draws more than 380,000 professional visitors from more than 200 countries and regions.CIFF Guangzhou is dedicated to industry development and global trade, making it the foremost exhibition for "Design Trend, Intelligent Manufacturing, Trade Promotion, and Quality Consumption."

Held annually from March 18th to 21st, CIFF Guangzhou Home Furniture gathers leading brands and trendy new products in various themes such as high-end design, suite furniture, whole-house customization, upholstery furniture, soft furnishings, home textiles, and outdoor living. It showcases industry trends such as green health, digital intelligence, and quality life, and serves as a one-stop sourcing and purchasing platform for domestic and international buyers and partners.
Held annually from March 28 to 31 ，CIFF (Guangzhou) Office and Commercial Space specializes in systematic office solutions, office seating, public commercial spaces, healthcare and senior care furniture, smart office, school furniture, hotel furniture, office furniture component，steel furniture，etc. This exhibition showcases the latest cutting-edge office space solutions and commercial space design trends in the industry.
Held annually from March 28th to 31st, CIFM/interzum guangzhou covers the upstream of the industry, including furniture machinery, furniture hardware, and furniture materials. It incorporates cutting-edge technologies and advanced achievements from the upstream industries, promoting the upgrading of the industrial chain to a higher level.
